Italian News and Italian Tunes!

There’s some serious talent coming from Italy, and we’re not just talking about the upcoming favourite to win Eurovision 2017, Francesco Gabbani. Although we can’t dismiss Francesco’s work, including his recently released album which we will be discussing, we also have to talk about some of the new releases from some of our favourite Italian artists, including Annalisa, Rocco Hunt, Clementino and Il Volo.

We’ll start off with the man of the moment, Francesco Gabbani, who has just released his third studio album titled Magellano. The album will feature his biggest hit and Eurovision song Occidentali’s Karma, which is the lead single off the album. To promote the new album, Francesco will be touring across Italy from the 19th of June to the 9th of September. Magellano debuted at number one on the charts, and is bound to be a hit all summer long. If you’ve been under a rock, here’s the song of the moment, Occidentali’s Karma:

One of Italy’s most successful Eurovision acts since their 2011 return is Il Volo, who continue their Notte Magica Tour across Italy. The trio have also announced that there is a new album in the pipeline, and it will be a collaboration with the producer Emilio Estefan, and is inspired by Latin music, while keeping to their Italian roots. It’s said to be different from previous releases, and potentially more pop oriented. Il Volo has also wished their luck to Francesco Gabbani, from one Eurovision success to another!

Former Sanremo participant Clementino has announced new dates for his current tour promoting his album Vulcano. The tour spans further from the borders of Italy, beginning on the 10th of May in London at Brixton Jamm. Then, the tour travels to Switzerland for two dates on the 24th and 27th of May at Palazzo di Chur and Komplex 457 in Zürich. The last two dates are in Germany on the 3rd and 4th of June at the Diamonds Club in Cologne and Perkins Park in Stuttgart. His most recent video release from his album Vulcano is Tutti Scienziati, and shows the humorous side of the Italian rapper.

Rocco Hunt, one of the most prominent Neapolitan rappers has just released a new track called Kevvuò, the first track said to be off his next studio album. Much like his other music, Rocco features issues plaguing youth in the South of Italy, the hardship and injustice. The video clip for the song further personifies these issues, as the clip features a number of dark and confronting scenes from the streets. This is in stark contrast to the happy news from the young star, who announced in late March, the birth of his baby Giovanni, who was born on Father’s Day – the best present of all.

Last of our Italian news today comes from Annalisa, a crowd favourite and hopeful for Eurovision sometime in the future. The popular female artist is part of a collaboration with Benji e Fede, a popular duo taking the charts by storm. The artists confirmed the collaboration through social media, of course, with a photo starring all three, presumably on shoot in Ibiza for the upcoming clip. The song is called Tutto per una ragione, and we’ll update this post as soon as the clip is released!
